Mary Hollfelder

CROSS PLAINS-Mary Catherine Hollfelder, age 98, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Sienna Crest Assisted Living in Oregon. She was born on January 2, 1911, in Pine Bluff, the daughter of Herman and Helena (Ripp) Kalscheur. Mary was united in marriage to Virgil Hollfelder on June 12, 1934 in Pine Bluff and together they farmed in the area for over 35 years before moving in to town. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, its Council of Catholic Women, and the Cross Plains Senior Citizens. Mary had also helped serve meals at funerals. She loved gardening and traveling with her friends. Mary is survived by her children, Kenneth (Shirley) Hollfelder of Black Earth and Marilyn (Daniel) Weltzin of Oregon; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Joe (Katie) Kalscheur of Sun Prairie; two sisters, Florence Krantz of Madison and Sr. Bernadette Kalscheur of Campbellsport; sister-in-law, Berdella Lowenberg; a brother-in-law, Mel (Jeanette) Hollfelder and many nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Virgil and several brothers and sisters, brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes Street, Cross Plains at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 14 , 2009 with Father Thomas Kelley presiding. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of service at the church.
