Wayne Murphy

MADISON-Wayne J. Murphy age 88, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2009 at the HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. He was born on October 8, 1920, in Mt. Horeb, the son of Joseph and Gladys (Garfoot) Murphy. Wayne was united in marriage to Theresa Ripp on September 10, 1949 at St. Marys Catholic Church of Pine Bluff. He was employed with Graber Industries for 33 ½ years . He loved gardening and wood crafts and for 31 years he was a vendor at the Dane County Farmers Market where he sold the fruits of his labor. Wayne was a devoted husband and father and treasured the time he spent with his family. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church and the Catholic Knights. Wayne is survived by his wife, Theresa Murphy; four children, John (Sue) Murphy, Dale (Martha) Murphy, Shawn Murphy and Dawn Murphy and two sisters, Joyce Blair and Doris Mackie. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Patrick, Ivan and Joseph Murphy and a sister, Shirley Crowley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE, 401 S. Owen Drive, Madison at 10:30 AM on Thursday, March 26, 2009 with Father Todd Van Natta presiding. Burial will be at St. Bernards Cemetery, Middleton. Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at the GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, where a rosary service will be held at 7:00 PM.
