Wandalee Graves

GRAVES WANDALEE MIDDLETON-Wandalee Culumber Graves , age 88, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2009. She was born October 6, 1920, to Jesse and Della Culumber. She graduated Decatur High School and then owned her own dance studio, supported her husband in business and worked a number of years in civil service, as a state employee. She was proud of her achievement as a Certified Professional Secretary. She met John Elwood Graves working in her fathers grocery store in Decatur, Illinois, and they were married September 30, 1941, and had lived in Decature, IL., Davenport, IA., and Madison. She loved and enjoyed her children, and is survived by Linda Graves-Shaughness and her husband Patrick, Jonathan Graves and his wife Jacky, Timothy Graves and his wife Jenine, Paul Graves and his wife Marti. She was blessed with ten grandchildren; Michael John (deceased), Jill Nicole (deceased), Jeremy Keith, Catherine "Katie" Joy, Gabrielle Jeanette, Stephen John, Jesse Edward, Christopher James, Jacob John and Jacqueline Nicole. Wandalee had special nicknames for all of her grandchildren. She is further survived by two sisters, Ruth Gnesin and Betty Denny and many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her two grandchildren, Wandalee was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Della Culumber, her husband John Graves and three sisters, Ester Culumber ,in infancy, Scampi Powell and Shirley Roth. Funeral services will be held at the HERITAGE CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH, 3102 Prairie Road, Madison at 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 28, 2009 with the Reverend Cynthia Bacon presiding. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Madison. Family and friends may call from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, February 27, 2009 at the GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Middleton and also on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the church.
