Marvin Buckley

Buckley, Marvin L. "Bud" "Marv" MADISON-Marvin L. "Marv" "Bud" Buckley, age 90, died peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2009, at Avalon SeniorCare, Fitchburg. He was born in Madison on June 11, 1918, to Martin and Jessie (Whiting) Buckley. Marvin graduated from East High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942 serving for more than five years. He worked for Kroger Grocery Co., before and after the service, for more than 30 years as a semi-truck driver. He married the late Orabelle "Orrie" Lee in September 1948. In 1965, he married Valeria "Vera" Schultz. Marvin later worked for the Madison School District, retiring in 1986. He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, VFW Post 8483, Eagles Club, Moose Lodge and the Grieg Club. He loved to visit with many friends, playing cards and socializing. He also enjoyed many meals with his family and friends, listening and watching sports, and drives in his car. He is survived by his loving daughter, Lynn and son-in-law, Bruce Halvorsen; two stepdaughters, Nancy and Noreen; and many nieces and nephews, whom he loved and enjoyed greatly. He was preceded in death by his parents; his dear wife, Vera; and lifelong friends: sisters, Myrt Knaack and Evelyn "Evie" Hood; brothers, Chester "Chet"and Harold "Buck"; and two sisters-in-law, the "two" Dorothys. A special thanks to the staff of HospiceCare and Avalon SeniorCare for their loving care. A celebration of Marvs life and memorial service will be held later this spring.
