Obituary

Martinson, Rose Marie MADISON - Rose Marie Martinson, age 92, passed away into the arms of her Savior on Thursday, March 19, 2009. She was born on March 15, 1917, in Westboro, the daughter of Frank and Rose (Spalt) Rau. Rose married Norman Martinson on May 1, 1939 in Dubuque, Iowa. Together, Rose and her husband started Martinson Plumbing. After Norman died unexpectedly in 1967, she began working for Central Wisconsin Center, retiring in 1982. She was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church, had been a member of the Miriam Circle. Rose volunteered more than 8000 hours at the Wm. S. Middleton VA Hospital and was a charter member of the Truax Longmire VFW Post 8483. She enjoyed traveling with her family and friends, loved watching the Badgers, Packers and the Brewers, playing games and doing crossword puzzles. Rose is survived by three daughters, Kaia Geiger of Sun Prairie, Millie ONeill of Madison and RoseAnne Martinson of Madison; son-in-law, Don Jones; seven grandchildren, Eric (Jadine) Geiger, Charles Jones, Amy (Todd Heimer) Bentheimer, Chris (Heidi) ONeill, Roger (Tracy) Bentheimer, Ralph (Danielle) Tolzmann and Jennifer (Lance) Peterson; eight great-grandchildren, Amber, Ashley, Tony, Zoe, Meagan, Amanda, Robin, Chazz, Kylie and Lex; brother, Ben (Mary) Rau of Westport; sisters, Dellie (Jerry) Albright of Arizona, and Frieda Rau of Iowa; and by her beloved cat, Pumpkin. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman; daughter, Clare Jones; and son, Norman Jr.; great-granddaughter, Cindy Marie; brothers and sisters, Louis, Frank, Clara, Constantine, Mary, Hildegard, John, and Gerhart Funeral services will be held at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1904 Winnebago St., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, with the Rev. John Ruppenthal presiding. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2009, and at the church, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m., on Tuesday. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, or to the Ladies Auxiliary at the Wm S. Middleton VA Hospital.
