Obituary

OREGON-Lois Irene (Kundert) Abrams, age 98, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at Ingleside Living Communities in Mount Horeb. She was born on April 14, 1910, to Reverend John E. and Jenny Kundert. Her father officiated at her marriage to Fenton Neil Abrams of Mondovi, in Winslow, Illinois on August 3, 1931. For most of their married life, Lois and Fenton lived in Oregon, where they raised their family and farmed. Fenton was also a full time teacher in Oregon. Lois was a devoted member of the Peoples United Methodist Church and was active in church activities while she was able. Her pride and joy was her garden, where her great love of flowers provided her with hours of enjoyment and fulfillment. Lois is survived by her children, Jill Tucker, of Mount Horeb; Thomas (Nancy) of Pardeeville; and Martha (Bill) Steinhauer of Mount Horeb; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Iva; two brothers, Harold and Deane and her beloved husband Fenton, who passed away in 1993. Lois lived with her extended family at Ingleside since 2000, where she was the first resident in their new Assisted Living Facility, and moved through Ingleside as her life moved forward. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Ingleside for their thoughts, prayers and gentle care given to Lois while she was part of their family. We would also like to thank Dr. Michael Weber of the Verona Clinic for his care and support shown to Lois. She was loved by her family and friends for both her gentleness and strength, and the life lessons that she taught us. We will miss her greatly, but find strength in her reunion with her husband and other friends and family members who have passed before her. Funeral services will be held at PEOPLES UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 103 Alpine Parkway, Oregon at 11:00AM on Friday, January 23, 2009, with the Reverend Jon Claude Bartlett presiding. Family and friends may call on Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the church. Those wishing to express their sympathy may wish to consider donations to the Peoples United Methodist Church.
