Gerald Brace

MIDDLETON-Gerald (Jerry) E. Brace, age 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family after an extended illness on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at the Wm. S. Memorial Hospital in Madison. Jerry was born on August 26, 1932, in Beaver Dam, the son of Edgar Louis and Agnes (Leitzke) Brace. He attended Beaver Dam schools and was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a B. S. in mathematics. Jerry was a US Army veteran, having proudly served his country during the Korean War. Jerry married the former Nancy L. Lappley on February 16, 1957, at St. Lukes Lutheran Church, Middleton. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in February 2007. Jerry was a 47 year employee of Marshall Erdman and Associates; first as an architectural designer/draftsman; later as a computer programmer/analyst. Jerry enjoyed golfing, bowling, reading, and especially loved spending time with his family and mini-dachshund, Ella. His extraordinary courage and strength of character were an inspiration to all who knew and loved him. Jerry is survived by his devoted and loving family; wife, Nancy; daughter, Kristy Jan (Mark) Fedenia, Middleton; son, Adam Gerald Brace, Madison; grandchildren, Ross Alexander Fedenia, Samuel August Fedenia and Lauren Nancy Fedenia, of Middleton and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Agnes Brace, brother, Eugene Brace, Phoenix, AZ.; sister, Betty Gallenbeck Kempen, Pewaukee; sister-in-law, Alice Brace, and brothers-in-law, Curtis Gallenbeck and Vernon Kempen. A Memorial Service will be held at the GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Middleton at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 14, 2009. Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of the service and also during the luncheon immediately following the service at the funeral home.
