Doris Gallagher

Gallagher, Doris JoAnn STOUGHTON-Doris JoAnn Gallagher, age 72, of Stoughton, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, Feb. 16, 2009. She was born on June 12, 1936, in Madison, the daughter of Ole and Mabel Anderson. As a youngster, Doris attended school in Belleville. She married William Gallagher on Sept. 6, 1952, in Dubuque, Iowa. Their first home was purchased in Cooksville before buying the farm in Stoughton, in 1969. Doris was a jack of all trades, from milkmaid to cook, to seamstress, the list goes on and on. She worked off the farm as well. Doris is survived by her loving husband, William; six children, Clyde (Kathie) Gallagher of Cooksville, Duane (Janet) Gallagher of Stoughton, Steve (JoAnn) Gallagher of Stoughton, Mike (Tammy) Gallagher of Auburndale, Danny (Tracey) Gallagher of Stoughton, and Cindy (Dave Bahr) Schmitt of Sun Prairie; ten grandchildren, Kasey, Nate (Lindsay), Chad (Alex Ardapple), Nicole, Jonathan and Matthew Gallagher, Zach (Anna) Anderson, all of Stoughton, Alex, Mena and Evan Schmitt of Sun Prairie; two great-grandchildren, Tristen Anderson and Rayne Gallagher; her extended family, Arlene (John) Marty of New Glarus, Elaine Anderson of Madison, Ellen (Dave) Miller of Oregon, Joann Anderson of Brodhead, Kenny (Diane) Anderson of Brodhead, Marilyn (Paul) Lokken of Blanchardville, and Sonya Mezera of Hartford; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Darrell and Shirley Anderson; brother, Dale Anderson; and sister, Cheryl Anderson. Funeral services will be held at ST. JOHNS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 625 E. Netherwood, Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, with the Rev. Paul Markquart presiding. Burial will be at Graves Cemetery, in the township of Rutland. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL HOME, 1358 Highway 51, Stoughton, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009. Mom considered her biggest asset her family. She will be greatly missed. We would like to thank the renal services at Dean Health for giving us more time with our angel.
