Obituary

Disch, Clarence Alvin OREGON-Clarence Alvin Disch, age 88, of Oregon, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at Oregon Manor Nursing Home. He was born on Oct. 4, 1920, to Henry L. and Barbara (Altman) Disch, in Brooklyn, Wis. Clarence lived with his family on farms in Monticello and Verona, attending Verona country school. He was united in marriage to Betty Ryan on April 2, 1942, in her parents home in Belleville, as her mother was ill. Clarence and Betty farmed 10 years in the Middleton/Verona area until 1952, and rural Oregon until 1976. While farming, Clarence was employed from January 1964 until retiring after 22 and a half years at UW-Madison Sellery and Ogg student residence halls as a maintenance facility worker in 1986. After retiring, he mowed lawns for several people and ran errands for Trachte Inc., Oregon. Clarence was a member of Peoples United Methodist Church, Oregon. He loved taking care of the land, was a gifted musician, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Betty; three daughters, Diane Newton of Oregon, Shirley Nicholson of Stoughton, and Sharon (Neil) Kruschek of Waunakee; two sons, James (Bonnie) Disch and Gary (Donna) Disch, both of Oregon; 12 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Louise Zuber; three brothers, Herman, Fred and Gilbert Disch; two grandsons; and son-in-law, Alton Newton. Funeral services will be held at PEOPLES UNITED METHODIST CHURCH,103 Alpine Parkway, Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, with the Rev. Jon Claude Bartlett presiding. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 431 Soden Drive, Oregon, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. Burial will be at Prairie Mound Cemetery.
