Obituary

Hippee, Mary Alice MADISON-Mary Alice Hippee, age 92, passed away suddenly on Friday, Feb. 13, 2009. She was born on Oct. 15, 1916 in Madison, the daughter of Edward M. and Mary Ellen (Healy) Lynch. She married George Benton Hippee on Nov. 7, 1942 at St. Bernard Catholic Church. Along with her husband, she co-owned Hippee Lumber and Supply Company, Madison for many years. Alice served on the boards of many charitable organizations over the years. She was a lifelong member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and a former charter member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Gary Schuster of Sherwood; son, Mike Hippee of Madison; 2 grandchildren, Kari and Scott Sturtevant; and nieces and nephews. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben; infant son, David; 2 sisters, Irene Hamacher and Ruth Bossart; and brother, Rodney Lynch. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Ave., Madison, at 12 noon on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, with her son Monsignor Michael E. Hippee presiding. Burial will at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Bernard Catholic Church Memorial Fund, St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry or Edgewood High School. Pat and Mike wish to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of All Saints Assisted Living and the doctors and nursing staff St. Marys Hospital and HospiceCare.
