Dahmen, Linus A. Cross Plainsâ?¬??Linus Aloysius Dahmen, age 72, of Cross Plains died on Saturday, January 31, 2009, at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center after an extended illness. He was born July 22, 1936, on the family farm in the Town of Springfield, the son of Joseph A. and Cyrilla C. (Endres) Dahmen. Linus and Arlene Dommershausen were married January 19, 1960 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Cross Plains. He worked for Speedway Sand and Gravel until his retirement in 1998. He spent his spare time at Main Street Lanes in Cross Plains which is owned and operated by his wife, Arlene. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish, the American Legion Post 245 and the Operating Engineers Local 139. Linus loved to hunt, fish, bowl, play baseball, softball and cards. He was seldom seen without a toothpick in his mouth. Surviving are his wife, Arlene of 49 years, four sons, Randy and daughter Danielle, Mike, David "Tubby" (Heather Sperry-Dahmen) and son Joshua, daughter Sage, Jim, a daughter Julie (Bob Sauer, fiancé) all of Cross Plains; an adopted granddaughter, Sierra Burke; three brothers, Lawrence (Carol) of Black Earth, William (AnnaMae) of Waunakee, Aloysius (Steve Evers) of Cathedral City, CA; four sisters, Monica Gulesserian (Stephen) of Middleton, Shirley Dahmen-Gerk (Jerry) of Mesa, AZ, Mary and her dog, Muffin, of Middleton, Ann M. Legris (Ray) of Evansville, his brother-in-law, Russell Dommershausen of Cross Plains a sister-in-law, Della Green (Rich) of Evansville; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Cyrilla Dahmen and his in-laws Frank and Margaret Dommershausen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at SAINT FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes Street, Cross Plains, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2009. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, at the church and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Thursday. A special thanks to the staff at St. Marys Hospital and HospiceCare for all their care and comfort given to him and our family; and to our many friends and extended family for their thoughts and prayers during these last six months. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Francis Xavier Endowment Fund, the American Legion Post 245 or Hospicecare.
