Selina Vogel

Vogel, Selina H. MADISON-Selina H. Vogel, 95, passed away on Feb. 8, 2009. She was born on Dec. 29, 1913 in Madison to Hans and Sina Hanson and, with the exception of the World War II years, spent her life in Monona. After graduating from Madison East High School in 1931, she remained there as a secretary until her marriage to Ralph Vogel in 1941. She performed volunteer services for Madison General Hospital and Meals on Wheels. Ralph and Selina were among the founding members of Lake Edge United Church of Christ. For years, Selinas Monona flower gardens were the envy of the neighborhood. A life-long animal lover, she was fortunate to have her beloved canine companion, Jillian, accompany her when she entered assisted living. In addition to her parents, Selina was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, in 1969 at which time he was President of Vogel Brothers Building Co., and siblings Gary Hanson, Palmer Hanson, Hilma Carlstedt and Lillie Krueger. She is survived by her son, John Vogel, of Nokomis, FL; her daughter, Susan Vogel, of Oakdale, MN, and grandchildren Molly and Corey Christopher and Jared Bryan. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Miles and Frances. Visitation will be at 12 pm on Thursday, February 12 at Lake Edge United Church of Christ, 4200 Buckeye Rd., Madison. Funeral services to follow at 1 pm. Gunderson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
