Dale Olsen

Olsen, Dale O. MADISON-Dale O. Olsen, age 53, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at St. Marys Hospital. He was born on May 27, 1955, in Madison, the son of Otto and Irene (Daley) Olsen. Dale married Cynthia Staley on Aug. 29, 1987, in Madison. He worked as an auto mechanic at Kayser Ford for almost 20 years. Dale was a member of the Antique Outboard Motor Club. He enjoyed rebuilding boat motors and was working on restoring an antique boat. Dale loved his cats, Emmie and Digger, and the backyard animals. He enjoyed camping, antique car shows, and searching for antiques at garage sales and auctions. Dale and his brother were each helping to care for their mother, to assist her in being able to live independently in her own apartment. Dale is survived by his wife, Cindy; his mother, Irene; brother, Mark (Eileen) Olsen; sister-in-law, Nancy (Alex) Alexander; brother-in-law, Brad (Linda) Staley; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arleigh and Betty Staley; five nephews; a niece; and five great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Otto; brother, Thomas; maternal grandparents, Isaac and Alma Daley; and paternal grandparents, Nicholas and Nora Olsen. A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 16, 2009. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. The family would like to thank St. Marys Hospital, Surgical ICU and Medical ICU for all of their care, and Dr. James Porter, Rheumatologist, and Dr. Randy Heidel of Dean Clinic, for their wonderful care of Dale through the years. Also, special thanks to Joan and John Wienke for being the best of friends over the years.
