Daniel Hether

Hether, Daniel Kent LACROSSE/MADISON-Daniel Kent Hether, age 71, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, at Badger Prairie Health Care Center. He was born on Jan. 17, 1938, in LaCrosse, the son of Daniel M. Hether and Lillian L. (Haugen) Hether. Dan grew up in LaCrosse and graduated from Central High School. He also considered Madison his home and has many friends there and in LaCrosse. Dan once said he loved Wisconsin because it had more overcast days even than Seattle. He was a lifelong plasterer in the construction industry until his retirement a few years ago. Dan loved to travel and all will remember him as a "softy" with a heart of gold. He is survived by his children, Angela Hether, Brian (Jeanie) Hether, and Julie (David) Matthews; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his mother, Lillian Hether; brother, Steve Hether; sisters, Christine Hether, Mary Hether, and Connie Hether; nephew, Jeromie (Beth) Munoz; nieces, Genoa and Evalani Barchet; and many cousins. Dan was preceded in death by his father, Daniel M. Hether. There will be a celebration of his life in the spring, after burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, LaCrosse. The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Badger Prairie Health Care Center for their outstanding care and compassion, especially Tammy Fuller, who went above and beyond.
