Earl Harbort

DEERFIELD-Earl J. Harbort, age 70, of Deerfield, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at St. Marys Hospital. He was born on June 30, 1938, in Columbus, the son of Jule and Aletta (Wangsness) Harbort. Earl enlisted in the U. S. Army. He married Karen Pooch on Nov. 28, 1964, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Marshall. Earl was an auto mechanic in Madison for several years, also working for the state of Wisconsin, retiring in July 2000. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 2930. Earl enjoyed working on small engines and was always happy when tinkering with something. He also enjoyed watching his boys at their sporting events in their younger years. Earl loved animals, especially his Mutly and T.C., and spending time with family and friends. He and Karen enjoyed spending time at their home in Missouri. Earl is survived by his wife of 44 years, Karen; sons, Tim, Mike, and Greg (Jean); his mother, Aletta; a brother, Lyle (Judy) Harbort; sister, Carol (George) Parham; and extended family and special friends. He was preceded in death by his father. Private family services will be held at a later date.
