June Gambino

MADISON- June Gambino, age 94, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009 at the HospiceCare Center. She was born on June 3, 1914, the daughter of Gene Howard and John Utter. June married Stephen Gambino on July 17, 1976. He preceded her in death in 2004. She had a variety of interests that included crafts, knitting afghans for all her family, playing cards, bowling, and loved traveling. June was a wonderful seamstress and cook. She is survived by her four stepdaughters, Sharon (Bill) Winburn, Janice (Bob) Rodefeld, Terri (Ron) Olstad, and Francine (Tim) Jones; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. June was preceded in death by her first husband, Norman Poorman; second husband, Stephen Gambino; parents; and a sister, Betty (Warren) Treadwell. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at 10 a.m., at OAKWOOD EAST CHAPEL , 5565 Tancho Dr., Madison, with Pastor Doug Locken presiding. Entombment will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be at Oakwood East Chapel from 9 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HospiceCare Inc. The family wishes to thank Dr. Musa and staff at the HospiceCare Center for all the care they gave June. God saw you were getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you and whispered Come to Me. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands now rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best.
