Obituary
MADISON-James F. "Jim" Bink, age 81, of Madison, died peacefully at home, in front of the fire with family present on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009. He was born on March 2, 1928, in Escanaba, Mich., the son of Francis and Lucille Bink. Jim attended high school there, and then played as a jazz drummer all around the Upper Peninsula and finished an apprenticeship in carpentry. He married Ruth Ann McGrath on May 19, 1951. Jim became a master carpenter, traveling all around the United States and settled back in Madison in 1965. He was a working man, who never complained, even to the end. When Jim wasnt at work, he worked on his house, helped his children work on their homes and helped friends with various projects. He planted a large garden every year and would can tomatoes and give away extra to neighbors and friends. Anything left over, Jim would bring to the food pantry. He was also an avid historian, who researched his family tree for years and had a book printed of his results. Survivors include, sons, Michael (Mary) of Stevens Point, and Jim (Nicole) of Adams Friendship; daughters, Jean Bink-McGrath (David) of Green Bay, and Marsha Bink (Tom) of Madison; and eight grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth Ann; brothers, Frank and Jerry; and a grandson, Kyle. A private service is planned for a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice for making this as easy a transition as can be. We will always be greatful for their help and advice, with special thanks to Carolyn, Pastor John, and Mary.
