Lucille Schnurbusch

Schnurbusch, Lucille F. "Grandma Lu" MADISON-Lucille F. Schnurbusch, age 83, passed away on Thursday, Jan 1, 2009, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 19, 1925, in Madison, the daughter of Chris and Anita (Kassabaum) Homburg. Lucille married Robert J. Schnurbusch on May 21, 1955, at Hope Lutheran Church. She and Bob owned and operated the Indian Head Tavern for many years. Lucille later worked for the University of Wisconsin as a custodian in the dorms, retiring in 1989. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church. Lucille will always be remembered for the dozens of cookies she baked for family and friends. She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Linda (Don) Williams; two grandchildren, Brianna and Jonathan Williams; a great-grandson, Alexander DiLorenzo-Williams; three sisters, Agnes Bergen, Margaret (John) Hansen, and Florence Melahn; two brothers, Harold (Shirley) Homburg and Rodney (Beverly) Homburg; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; two brothers, Milo and Melvin Homburg; and a sister, Ruth Hart. Funeral services will be held at HOPE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3702 County Highway AB, McFarland, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, with the Rev. Chris Lee-Thompson presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from noon until 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, and at the church, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. A special thank you to Dr. Heidi Eimermann for all of her kindness and care, and also to St. Marys Hospital and HospiceCare. God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around you and whispered, "Come to Me." With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away and although we love you dearly, we could not make you stay. A Golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best.
