Madeline Tydd

MT. HOREB-Madeline Cullen Tydd (Maddy), age 92, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2008 at Ingle Living Communities in Mt. Horeb . She was born on September 10, 1916, in Chicago, the daughter of Thomas and Mae (Young) Cullen. Madeline was united in marriage to Frederick W. Tydd on September 20, 1941 in Chicago and they enjoyed 58 happy years together. Although they lived most of their lives in Chicago, they were long-time summer residents of Pardeeville, moving from Chicago to Wisconsin when they retired in 1978. Maddy loved children and was a kind and caring mother and grandmother. She played the piano beautifully, "by ear." Her family and friends will remember her as a vivacious and genuinely kind lady who gave happiness to everyone she knew. She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Bergee and husband Paul of Madison; her son, Frederick W. Tydd, II of Lansing, IL.; granddaughter Brett Bergee of Richmond, VA; granddaughter Elizabeth (Beth) Tydd of Frankfurt, IL; grandson Frederick W. ( Eric) Tydd III of Flossmoor, IL; brother-in-law Raymond Tydd; a cousin Charlotte Hunt and many nieces and nephews. Maddy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her mother and father-in-law Frederic and Elizabeth Tydd; her brothers William and Thomas; her cousin Virginia McKenna and brothers and sisters-in-law George and Mary Kerr, Laurence and Marjorie Smith and Jeanne Tydd. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Ingle Living Communities in Mt. Horeb, where she has lived since 2001, for their kind, sensitive, and attentive care and for sharing in the last years of Maddys life. A private burial for immediate family is planned. A later memorial celebration of Maddys life will occur in the spring, date to be announced.
