Obituary
Randl, Wayne R. MADISON-Within the loving circle of his family, Wayne R. Randl completed his journey to be with the Lord in Heaven on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008. As a long standing member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Wayne personified the ideals of a Christian. He found solace in the delightment of family, friends and even strangers. Almost generous to a fault, the ultimate husband, father, brother and grandfather, believed that it was his mission to leave this place in a better form than when he arrived 66 years ago. An avid history reader and sports fan, Wayne was never without a smile, joke, or term of endearment, nor was he too distant from his beloved Badgers and Packers. For the loved ones left behind, life without Wayne shall be preserved in these principles: faith, family and friends. He was born on Aug. 17, 1942, in Antigo. Wayne graduated from Antigo High School in 1960 and from UW-Eau Claire with a teaching degree in 1964. This is where he met his best friend and adoring wife, Shirley Paul. They were united in marriage on July 16, 1966, in Wausau. Wayne went on to teach U. S. history and coach high school football, basketball, and baseball at D. C. Everest High School, in Schofield, from 1964 until 1969. He then had an opportunity to establish his successful family-owned manufactured housing business, Lifestyle Homes in Windsor, and The Housing Mart of Monroe. He was a long time member of the Wisconsin Housing Alliance, serving as chairman from 1995 until 1997. Waynes passion for sports was seen in his involvement as a coach in youth basketball and Little League, watching high school sports at LaFollette High School and of course, his love of the Badgers and Packers. Badger tailgates were one of his favorites. More of Waynes special memories were swimming and grilling by the family pool, watering his flowers, ski trips out West, numerous cruises and trips to places such as the Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii and Door County. He enjoyed spoiling his two grandchildren. Wayne is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Jennifer (Patrick) Ark of Green Bay; sons, Steve (Sonja) of Fitchburg and Corey (Danielle) of Cottage Grove; two grandchildren, Will and Elyse Ark; a sister, Karen (Dave) Krosnicki; brother, Ron (Judy) Randl; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 312 Wisconsin Ave., Madison, at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, with the Rev. William R. White presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive from 3:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Waynes name. Waynes family would like to thank Dr. William Schelman and his team at UW Comprehensive Cancer Center, HospiceCare Inc., and all the gracious friends who have given them tremendous strength and support this past year. "Wayne, Randy, Waco, Wayno, Dad, Gramps, you have made a difference. God placed you on Earth to remind us to remember the simple things: family, faith, friends, fun and happiness. You have put a smile on the faces of all you have touched. Thank you for being our dad and our friend. Know that God will hold us in the palm of his hand. Our lives will never be the same without you, but we will meet again in Heaven one day. We love and cherish you."

At family gatherings, one always knew €€ if Wayne was there, there was to be baseball . . . or basketball, or football. At the very least a joke or two (or three) was going to be told.
I always looked forward to seeing Uncle Wayne at any family event. He made you feel like a pro athlete even if you couldn't catch a ball. And his jokes, no matter how bad, were always funny because HE told them.
I will miss you, Uncle Wayne. Your joy for life was and still is infectious.

Wayne and his family has been a joy to know through all these years. (Probably 25 years plus, going back to the grade school years for Steve and Jenny)
You always feel welcomed and you always had fun around him.
Wayne will be missed.

I met Wayne for the 1 and only time at Steve and Sonja's wedding (I am one of Sonja's relatives), but that is really all it took to know that you who were fortunate to see him on a daily basis were truly blessed. He was a free spirit, and i think he leaves behind a legacy that many people wish they had. My deepest sympathies to all friends and family. You are in my prayers.
