Obituary
Parks, Maxine MADISON Maxine (Gourlie) Parks, age 83, of Madison, passed away on Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. She was born in Benton and grew up in Lancaster. Maxine and her husband, William, lived in Milwaukee for 37 years before moving to Madison. During the war years, Maxine worked in Washington, D.C., at the new Pentagon for the U.S. Army Department of Transportation. Years later, she was a dental assistant for Dr. Louis Smith in Lancaster and for Dr. Frank Zolnowski in Cudahy. Maxine was a working member of many church and civic organizations. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Headley; four sons, Michael (Deborah), John (Barbara), Stephen (Joan), and Dr. Thomas; 13 grandchildren, Deborah, Benjamin, Lisa, Geoffrey, Bridget, Timothy, Matthew, Shannon, Ryan, Erin, Meghan, Gregory and Lea; three step-grandchildren, Scott, Jennifer and Billy; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Merlin "Jack" Gourlie of Madison; and a sister-in-law, Maxine Kubart of Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, with Father Kent Schmitt presiding. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., with a rosary service at 6:30 p.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008.
