Obituary
Duzinski, Winifred B. "Winnie" MADISON Winifred Blanche Duzinski, age 100, passed away on Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at Clare Bridge in Middleton. Winnie was born on Dec. 25, 1907, on a farm near Cazenovia in Richland County, as were her eight brothers. She was the only daughter of Emery W. and Edith (Wagner) DeVault. She was united in marriage to Benjamin Andrew Duzinski of Pickett, Wis., on Dec. 29, 1931, in Richland Center. They lived in Cazenovia and Reedsburg and on farms in Sauk and Richland Counties. Winnie was a Red Cross volunteer during World War II and a 4-H Leader for many years. Winnie loved gardening, sewing and singing with her family. Later they moved to Madison to become house parents for a UW graduate house. She also made custom draperies for decorators in the Madison area. When her husband retired they moved to Sauk City. She helped him with his woodworking hobby and became the family genealogy specialist. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church of Sauk City for many years. After her husbands death, Winnie returned to Madison to be nearer to family. She joined St. Lukes Lutheran Church and became a member of the Merry Mission quilting group. She always tried to be useful and helpful wherever she went. She accepted the difficulties of life with strength and courage. She was grateful for life blessings, a good marriage, family and friends. All who knew her will miss her friendly smile, zest for life and sense of humor. Winnie is survived by her daughters, Nancy Dolan and Rosemary Gartzke; her grandchildren, Erik (Tara) Gartzke and Lisa (Craig) Nierman; great-grandchildren, Laura and Hunter Nierman and Allana and McGivney Gartzke; and many special nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ben Duzinski; a grandson, Michael Dolan; her brothers, Clinton, William, Kenneth, Guy, Ray, Jay, Floyd and Everett DeVault; sisters-in-law, Helen, Rhode, Grace, Magdeline, Elsie, Esther Jane and Marie DeVault; and a father-in-law, Standish Duzinski.
