John Beck

Beck, John P. "Pete" MADISON-John P. "Pete" Beck, age 66, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008. He was born on Feb. 10, 1942, in Antigo, to John Frank and Esther (Anderson) Beck. John was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U. S. Navy, and retired in 1990. He graduated from Madison Area Technical College with a degree in accounting. John married Gloria Porter on Feb. 24, 1973, in Madison. He worked for University Hospital, and on the University campus, and the state of Wisconsin as an accountant. John had a passion for photography and after retirement, spent many hours taking photos at Olbrich Gardens and Lake Kegonsa. He also enjoyed hiking and anything outdoors. John is survived by his wife, Gloria; daughter, Heather; son, Sean; two grandchildren, Meghan and Tierra "T. J."; two brothers, Tom (Sara) and Joe; nieces and nephews; and special friends, Will and Jackie Keller, Bill Bailey, and John Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Paul. A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, with the Rev. Richard Gibbs presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until the time of the service. Special thanks to the HospiceCare staff, and family and friends, for all of their care and support of John.
