Irene Marquardt

Marquardt, Irene M. MADISON - Irene M. Marquardt, age 97, died on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008. She was born on July 17, 1911, in Minnesota, to Iver and Mary (Olsen) Johnson. Irene married Sherman Rue on Sept. 2, 1933. He preceded her in death on March 7, 1941. She then married Victor Marquardt on January 3, 1950. He preceded her in death on April 15, 1991. Irene worked for Sears for many years, retiring in 1976. She kept connected with family and friends through daily phone calls. Irene enjoyed crocheting afghans and gardening. She is survived by her granddaughter, Dana (Terry) Lawrin; great-grandson, Michael Lawrin; a niece, Myrna Gilland; and nephews, Stan (Marian) Johnson, Wally (Joyce) Johnson, and Loren (Karen) Johnson. Irene was preceded in death by her husbands; and step-daughter, Audrey (Donald) Mechtel. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, 2008.
