Martin Niesen

Niesen, Martin J. MONONA Martin J. Niesen, age 45, of Monona, passed away unexpectedly and suddenly on Monday, Oct. 20, 2008, at his home. He was born on Feb. 18, 1963, in Madison, the son of Henry and Helen (Schumacher) Niesen. Martin graduated in 1981 from Monona Grove High School. He received his degree from UW-Whitewater in English education. Martin worked for several years at various restaurants: Dominos, Subway and Country Kitchen. People always spoke of his kindness and service. Martin enjoyed model trains. He had a deep affection for his pets. Martin is survived by his mother, Helen; brothers, Paul (Julie) and John (Meg); sisters, Mary Kay (Michael) Pekar, Liz (Fred) List, and Anne (Ray) List; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, with Father Kent Schmitt presiding. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008.
