Howard Davis

Davis, Howard L. MADISON Howard L. Davis went to the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at age 81, following his last bout with cancer. He was employed by Ohio Medical (OHMEDA), as an assembler for 44 years. Howard was cofounder and past president of the Silent Lutheran Church. He was past president, treasurer, elder and trustee of Our Savior Deaf Lutheran Church (OSDLC). Howard represented the Wisconsin Association of the Deaf at the 1965 National Association of the Deaf Convention in Miami, Fla., and was past president of Madison Association of the Deaf. He was an avid golfer, who also enjoyed baseball and basketball. Howard is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 57 years, Bertie Lou Davis; daughters, Carol (Jeff) Hanson of Cottage Grove, and Laura (Thomas) Bowers of Fitchburg; a sister, Carola Rasmus of Fremont, Calif.; and eight grandchildren, Samantha, Michelle, Elizabeth and Bradley Hanson, Jeremy and Jason Brussow, Andrew and Megan Sanrope. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Kay (Vern) Brussow in 1996. A Memorial Service will be held at OUR SAVIOR DEAF LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3110 Dairy Drive, Madison, at 2 p.m., on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Sunday. Memorials may be made to OSDLC, 3110 Dairy Drive, Madison, WI 53718; or to the American Cancer Society. He will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives he touched throughout his life.
