Elizabeth Rogers

Rogers, Elizabeth "Betty" MADISON -Elizabeth "Betty" Rogers, age 74, left this earth on a perfect fall day, Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008, to go run with the angels. Betty was born in Boscobel, to Clarence and Ida (Bohn) Bowers, on Nov. 9, 1933. She graduated from Boscobel High School in 1951, and after graduation, came to Madison to work as a secretary at the State Capitol and for the Department of Human Services. On Sept. 19, 1959, Betty was united in marriage to Lee M. Rogers. This union produced three children, John, Mary Ann and Kathryn. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles, playing solitaire, and spending time with family. Betty was a member of St. Dennis Catholic Church and often volunteered her time to the church. Her favorite times involved her grandchildren and in those times developed little nicknames for them; Thomas, her Army boy; Larissa, her princess; Oliver, her "capital T for trouble;" and John, her little buddy. Betty loved to lavish "grandma kisses" on them. Besides her grandchildren, Betty is survived by her husband, Lee; her daughters, Mary (John) Straka of Sun Prairie, and Kathryn (Brian) Hill of Madison; her brother, John (Marcia) Bowers; and her sister, Eleanor Bowers. She was preceded in death by her son, John. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008, with Father Lance Schneider presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., with a Rosary service at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008. Memorials may be made to Neurofibromatosis Foundation or HospiceCare Inc. The family would like to thank the staff at Karmenta Center and HospiceCare, especially Brian, her Hospice nurse, who managed to keep her smiling. You are free, Mom!
