Obituary
Johnson, Merlyn O. MADISON - Merlyn O. Johnson, age 80 of Madison, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, at his home. He was born on April 10, 1928, in Madison, the son of George and Mildred Johnson. Merlyn served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7591, Zor Shrine and their Camel Patrol, Madison Elks Lodge, and was a Mason. Merlyn was an avid sportsman and naturalist. He is survived by his daughters, Julie (Charlie) Davanzo, Susan (Greg) Syvrud, Lynn (Pete) Anderson, Jan Johnson (Andy Hughs) and their mother, Jackie Johnson; five grandchildren, Paul and Andy Davanzo, Matthew (Kim) Judd, Callie Johnson, and Annalise Anderson; a great-granddaughter, Faye Judd; sister, Georgan (Tom) Leverentz; and niece, Jeanette (Ken) Burghy and family. Merlyn was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Roger; an infant niece; and other relatives. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, with Retired U.S. Navy Chaplain Vernon Awes presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park, with military rites conducted. We pray our hopes are not in vain, though we part for now, well meet again
