Obituary
Volk Cora,L. MADISON Cora Laverna Volk, age 90, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008 at the HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. She was born on Oct. 3, 1917, in Clyde, the daughter of Henry and Bertha (Olson) Gilbertson. Cora was united in marriage to Lawrence Volk, on May 25, 1936, in Dodgeville. He preceded her in death in 1995. She enjoyed playing cards and gardening, but treasured most the time spent with her family. Cora is survived by a daughter, Deb (Doug) Corning of Madison; three grandsons, Tony Volk and Austin Corning, both of Madison and Courtney (Melanie) Corning of Verona; two granddaughters, Melissa Corning of Madison and Darlene (Steve) Metz, of Colgate; three great-grandchildren, Makenna, Peyton and Bryce Corning; a brother, Bill (Elaine) Bennett of Dodgeville and daughter-in-law, Teri Volk, of Oregon, Ohio; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, Cora was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Volk and five sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. MARIA GORETTI, 5313 Flad Ave, Madison at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, with Monsignor Michael Burke presiding. Burial will be in St. Peters Catholic Cemetery, Ashton. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Memorials may be made to HospiceCare, Inc., 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711.

Cora was full of life and always ready to have a good time. I was happy I got to see a=her at Steve and Darlene's wedding. She was still drinking brandy old fashions and we had a good laugh about that. I know her family will miss her. My regards to all.
