Obituary
McGuigan, Raphael "Ray" W. BLANCHARDVILLE/MADISON Raphael "Ray" W. McGuigan passed away on Saturday,Sept. 27, 2008. Ray was born on Sept. 20, 1922, son of William F. and Mary Ann (Burns) McGuigan. A graduate of Blanchardville High School; he owned and operated a cheese store in Blanchardville for many years. Later, he was employed by Bowman Dairy in Madison prior to his retirement. He was a World War II Veteran. Ray was a life member of the Madison Elks 410, a member of American Legion 534, McFarland, and a member of St. Dennis Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Mary Wiegel; sons, William and Robert of Madison; daughter-in-law, Dottie (Ken) McGuigan of Blanchardville; grandson, Travis McGuigan of Madison, a step-grandson, Tim McGuigan of Blanchardville; two nieces, Karen (Bill) Doolan of Viroqua and Marsha (Sigrud) Chestelson, Jr. of Gays Mills; two nephews, Gary Hagar and Rusty (Glenn) Hagar of Eyota, Minn.; step children, Rita Bakken, Adele (David) Crary, and Chris (Jim) Perry all of Madison, Jerry (Karen) Wiegel, Irene (Tom) Burris both of Mineral Point, Linda Scheuerell of Monticello, Ralph Wiegel, Rose (Greg) Schulte both of Darlington, as well as, numerous relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ken (Scoop) McGuigan; grandson, Jason McGuigan; brother, Roland (Mac) McGuigan; and sister, Marian Hagar. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Rd., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008 with Father Kent Schmitt presiding with military honors following the Mass. Private burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Blanchardville. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, on Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to Madison Elks 410 Boiler Fund, St. Dennis Catholic Church or HospiceCare, Inc.
