Obituary
Fortney, Dorothy Mae Hartwig MADISON Dorothy Mae Hartwig Fortney, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, at the HospiceCare Center. Dorothy possessed many talents and interests, including music, sewing and travel. Her greatest joy however, was her family. She was well known as the family historian and the woman who meticulously archived over 100 years of family photos and materials. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Kenneth C. Fortney. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Kjersten (Michael Restifo) Fortney Mills of Rowayton, Conn.; her son, Neil K. (Susan) Fortney of Madison; and five grandchildren, Kristofer Millsof Norwalk, Conn., Sarah Mills of Rowayton, Conn., Micah Mills of Chicago, Ill., Alex Fortney of Milwaukee and Nathan Fortney of LaCrosse. Daughter of Fred and Alma (Draeger) Hartwig, Dorothy was from a large loving family of eleven siblings, of whom the following survive her, Jim (Vera) Hartwig of Jefferson, Lucille Krueger of Watertown, Carol Neuman of Lakeland, Fla., John (Dorothy) Hartwig of Johnson Creek, Robert (Donna) Hartwig of Watertown and Kathy Bauer of Saginaw, Mich; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Hartwig of Johnson Creek. At her request, there will not be a funeral. Her family greatly appreciates your thoughts, memories, and prayers for this courageous woman.
