Obituary

Rosenau, Elaine R. MADISON Elaine Ruth Rosenau, age 78, passed away peacefully at Belmont Nursing Home, Friday, Sept. 19, 2008. She was born Jan. 31, 1930, in Saginaw, Mich., to Lothar and Hulda Stolper. Her father, a Lutheran school teacher and band instructor, brought the family to the area to pursue a teaching opportunity at Madison Lutheran School. While living in Madison, Elaine met John Rosenau and on April 19, 2008, they celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. They had four sons and one daughter, Mark, Dale, Keith, Beth and Wayne. Elaine is survived by her husband; all five children; nine grandchildren; and her two sisters, Alice Peppler of Chicago, Ill. and Ruth Olson of Red Wing, Minn. Elaine was less mobile than most, being disabled since childhood, but what she lacked in mobility, she more than made up for in generosity, compassion and patience. This was evident by the volunteer work she did at the Wm. S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital and the years she taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Monona Evangelical Lutheran Church choir and loved helping out with the annual church Christmas pageant. Her family, her relatives and her faith meant everything to Elaine, as was evident by her favorite bible passage, "As for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord". All of us that knew her, consider ourselves extremely blessed and we will miss her dearly. A private family service will be held. Memorials may be made in Elaines name to Monona Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4411 Monona Drive, Madison.
