Kratz, James D. "Jim" MADISON James D. "Jim" Kratz, age 44, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, at home. He was born on Sept. 11, 1963, in St. Paul, Minn., to Gerald F. and Meredith "Mary" (Robbins) Kratz. Jim was an entrepreneur, owning Jims Painting and Remodeling in Madison. He was a hard worker. Jim was an active participant with AA and was an avid motorcycle rider. He is survived by his children, Garrett Kratz and Amber Kratz, both of Minnesota; his father, Gerald Kratz; two brothers, Jerry (Mandy) Kratz and John (Gina) Kratz; and nieces, nephews, other relative and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his mother. Memorial services will be held at ALANO SOCIETY, 511 N. Carroll St., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, with the Rev. Scott Wetlaufer presiding. A gathering will take place following the service. "For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain...My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. Remaining alive was more necessary for all of you, to help you with your joy in the faith, that you may have ample cause to glory in Christ Jesus."
