Bork, Vernon F. COTTAGE GROVE Vernon F. Bork, age 82, died peacefully, surrounded by family on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, at St. Marys Hospital. He was born on April 25, 1926, in Token Creek, to Edward and Mabel (Kittleson) Bork. Vernon married Rita Endres on Nov. 22, 1947. They resided on the Bork family farm and together they farmed for 61 years. Vernon also worked for the state of Wisconsin for 16 years. He had a strong work ethic. Vernon enjoyed fishing, gardening, dancing, playing cards, going on bus trips with Rita, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was so proud of his family and loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. Vernon is survived by his wife, Rita; children, Donna (Bob) Windschiegl, Linda (Chuck) Bollig, Bonnie Daggett, Barbara (Dan) Smith, Patty (Bill) Bollig, Dennis (Anne) Bork, Mary (Lonn) Hendrickson, Steven Bork, and Lynette (Andy) Hanson; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Karen) Bork; two sisters, Doris Wolff and Marion Heisig; and sister-in-law, Joanne Squire. He was preceded in death by his parents; eldest daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Harold Hollis; and two sisters, Adell Degenhardt and Rachel Christianson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. PATRICKS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 434 N. Main St., Cottage Grove, at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, with Monsignor Raymond Kertz presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Private family burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. A special thank you to Peggy Weber, a close family friend, and the medical staff at St. Marys Hospital, 8th floor and MICU.
