Jeanne Topham

Topham, Jeanne M. OREGON/ MADISON Jeanne M. Topham died peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg, on Wednesday, July 9, 2008. Jeanne was the daughter of Dr. J.L. "Doc" and Marie (Seifert) Topham of Oregon. They preceded her in death. Jeanne was a graduate of both Edgewood High School of The Sacred Heart and Edgewood College. Jeanne taught in the Madison School system for 30 years and upon her retirement, continued to substitute teach at her home school, Orchard Ridge Elementary School. Jeanne touched the lives of many of Madisons youngsters and offered them a wonderful beginning of their formal school years. Her classroom regularly reflected her gifts of order, beauty, and creativity. Jeanne traveled extensively during her retirement years, one of her favorite trips was to Rome, Italy. Jeanne is survived by her sister, Joanne of Prospect Heights, Ill. She is further survived by cousins, Don (Ruth) Topham, Patricia (Francis) Gorst, Mary (Robert) Byrne, Elizabeth (Joseph) LaBella, Tom (Rita) ONeill, and the late Robert (Joyce) ONeill. Many more cousins survive her, as well as dear family friends. Her legacy will live on in the lives of all the school children who shared her gifts along the way. A celebration of Jeannes life will be held at HOLY MOTHER OF CONSOLATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 651 N. Main St., Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2008. A visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Jeannes cousin, Daniel J. Kelly of Naperville, Ill. will officiate. Entombment will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials in Jeannes name may be made to the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center or Edgewood College. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
