Obituary
Brooks, Robbie MADISON Robbie Brooks, age 46, passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 23, 2008, after a long battle with cancer, with his parents and partner by his side. He was born on May 29, 1962, in Beaver Dam, the son of Rocky and Janis Brooks. Robbie graduated from Dodgeland High School in 1980, he was valedictorian, on the honor society and was involved in band. He went on to receive a communication of arts degree and a law degree from UW - Madison. For the past 18 years, Robbie worked for the State of Wisconsin in the Consolidated Courts Automation Programs Division. He started as an analyst and went on to fill several leadership positions, most recently he was the customer service manager and was instrumental in the implementation of the 71 counties network. Robbie had a passion and drive for delivering excellent customer service and was always going above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. He was an integral part of the CCAP and the Wisconsin Court System. Robbie had a true dedication to CCAP, a huge impact in the organization and will be greatly missed. He lived life to the fullest: he loved everything Wisconsin has to offer from Concerts on the Square, Olbrich Gardens, Overture Center, yearly visits to the family cottage on Plum Lake, and American Players Theater. Robbie enjoyed showing people Madison and was very proud of the city. He loved and supported the public libraries and public transportation; from biking, busing and train trips on Amtrak. Robbie enjoyed annual trips with Ken to New York and Europe. He led and organized life long memorable vacations for his nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, to Washington D.C, Chicago and New York City. Robbie was a big supporter of Broadway and the arts. Robbie and his brother, Ritchie, had a passion for music and for arguing with their dad about politics. He enjoyed long phone conversations with friends and his mom. Robbie liked reading, telling stories and sharing his collection of music and DVDs with others. He was a devoted partner who allowed Ken to fulfill his dream. His parents were so proud of him and how he lived his life. Robbie enjoyed spending time with his nephews and was a major part of their lives and will be an influence on them forever. He was also the best friend you could ever have to so many. Robbie leaves behind his partner of 15 years, Ken Monteleone; his parents, Rocky and Janis Brooks of Juneau; brothers, Michael Brooks, Mark (Carrie) Dustin, and CJ Brooks; sister-in-law, Susanne and her son, Fritz Brooks; his grandma, Dorothy Joneth; an aunt, Sandy Brooks; cousins, Jennifer (David) Nampel and kids, Kim (Jonathon) Nance and kids; and a very close group of friends, family and co-workers. He was preceded in death by partner, Tony Wigfield; brother, Ritchie Brooks; uncle, Larry Brooks; and grandparents, Harvey and Beulah Thieman and Williard Brooks. Per Robbies request, the family will hold a private celebration of life service with close family and friends. Memorials may be made to Olbrich Gardens, 3330 Atwood Ave., Madison, WI, 53704 or to HospiceCare Inc., 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Fitchburg, Wisc., 53711.
