Constance Tonar

Tonar, Constance "Connie" MONONA/ MINOCQUA Constance "Connie" Tonar, age 75, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2008. She was born on Nov. 18, 1932, in Milwaukee, the daughter of William and Leona (Schmeigelski) Hass. Connie was a 1949 graduate of Pulaski High School in Milwaukee. She was united in marriage to Henry (Hank) Tonar on Feb. 14, 1953. Together they started Hallmark Drywall where she continued to help her husband with the daily business. Connie was a great cook and enjoyed making wonderful meals for her family. She treasured spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. To Connie family was her world. She is survived by her husband, Henry; daughters, Karen (Rick) Grosse of Madison, Patti (Gary) Hellenbrand of Waunakee, Lori (Tim) Julson of Stoughton, Jayne (Bob) Lindauer of Verona, and Kathleen Tonar of Milwaukee; grandchildren, Adam (Emily) Grosse, Jason (Julie) Grosse, Ali Grosse, Megan (Kilby) Willenburg, Lindsey (Joe) Gilbert, Jamie and Kelsey Hellenbrand, Ashley, Andrew, and Katie Julson, and Danielle and Tyler Lindauer; and seven great-grandchildren, Ava and Elka Grosse, Gabrielle, Amber, and Zackary Grosse, Barret Willenburg and another Willenburg on the way!, and Randy Gilbert. Connie is further survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann (Bob) Tonar of Racine; brothers-in-law, Charles (Doris) Tonar of California and Edward Tonar of South Milwaukee; sisters-in-law, Alice Ross of Indianapolis, Emily Landgraf of Florida, and Betty Jane Kramer of Cudahy; an aunt, Harriet Eickstaedt of Greenfield; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Connie was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law; and a nephew, Dave Tonar. A Memorial Mass will be held at ST. JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1128 St. James Court, Madison, at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2008, with Monsignor Thomas F. Baxter presiding. Family and friends may call on Monday from 3 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Marys Care Center for their loving care and support.
