Ray Calkins

Calkins, Ray F. MADISON Ray Fredrick Calkins, age 78, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2008. He was born on Dec. 15, 1929, in Beaver Dam, the son of Fredrick A. and Ella M. (Ludwig) Calkins. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in September of 1949 and was discharged in December of 1952. Ray graduated from Madison Business College. He married Janet Marsden. Ray enjoyed woodcarving and genealogy. He was a member of the Madison Lapidary Club and the Capitol Area Carvers of Wisconsin. Ray is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janet; children, Calvin C. Calkins of Madison, Dennis M. (Patricia) Calkins of McFarland and Linda Carol Calkins of Denver, Colo.; and grandchildren, Daniel Jimenez and Rebecka Jimenez of Denver, Colo., and Cody Calkins, Cassey Calkins and Cassandra Calkins of McFarland. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Lawrence A. Calkins. Memorial visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, from 10 a.m. until noon on Friday, July 11, 2008, with military rites conducted at noon.
