Mary Davis

Davis, Mary Ellen MIDDLETON Mary Ellen Davis, age 72, of Middleton, died on Saturday, June 21, 2008. She was born on June 21, 1936, at home in West Middleton on Mineral Point Road to Fred and Sylvia (Garfoot) Kempfer. She met the love of her life, Dean Davis, at Middleton High School and they were married at Middleton Community Church on Aug. 8, 1958. Together Mary and Dean built their home on Century Avenue in Middleton. They spent their entire life living there. Mary attended a one room school house through grade school and graduated from Middleton High School. She worked at the Motor Vehicle Department in Madison, The Bank of Middleton, CUNA Mutual Insurance, and was co-owner of Davis Electric until her retirement in 1997. Mary is a current member of Eastern Star and a former EMT in Middleton. She loved antiques and treasured her time antiquing, searching for carnival glass and cut glass. Survivors include her brothers, Alva (Thelma) Kempfer, Fred (Mary) Kempfer and sister-in-law, Bonnie (Charles) Davis-Stevens and their families, Joan Sawyer, Angie Gerber, John Kempfer, Ron Kempfer, Linda (Gary) Kuehn, Don Kempfer, Curt Kempfer, Lauri Kempfer, Kelly (Tony) Borchert, Mark (Shaunna) Davis, Debbie Davis, and Stephen (Jodi) Davis. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Dean; her parents, Fred and Sylvia Kempfer; her father and mother-in-law, Ralph and Florence Davis; and her brother-in-law, Ralph Davis. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2008, with the Rev. James Iliff presiding. Burial will be at Middleton Junction Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home on Tuesday.
