Fisher, Marlene L. MIDDLETON Marlene L. Fisher, age 74, passed away Friday, June 13, 2008. She was born on Oct. 9, 1933, in Bridgetown, N.J., the daughter of George Raymond and Olive Evelyn (Shutt) Lewis. Marlene graduated from Woodbury High School, Woodbury, N.J., and was active in school academic activities. She served as a communication supervisor at Nas Alameda, Cailf., with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, 1952 to 1956. Marlene received a Good Conduct Medal and a National Defense Service Medal. On Oct. 20, 1956, she married David L. Fisher at St. James Catholic Church in Madison. Marlene obtained a diploma from LaSalle College for encouraging her husband to graduate from college, called the PHT degree (Putting Hubby Through). She was active in American Cancer Association drives, The American Heart Association, religious education in various parishes, as well as Altar and Rosary Society, PTA, and St. Vincent de Paul activities. In the Dioceses in New Jersey, Louisiana and Wisconsin, she was active with her husband in marriage preparation, marriage enrichment, marriage encounter, as well as the PMI program. Marlene enjoyed playing cards, Dominos, Quiddler, and Pinochle. She also enjoyed arts and crafts and made many items for others. Marlene was a member of St. Bernards Catholic Church, American Legion Post No. 534, McFarland, and WAVES National. Marlene is survived by her husband, David; three sons, Michael David (Kara) of Elcho, Patrick James (Linda) of San Antonio, Texas, and Christopher John (Michele) of Upland, Calif.; six grandchildren, Rebecca, Ann, Jason, Julie, William, and Claire; five great-grandchildren, Blayne, Kolton, Evan, Hannah and Isabella; a brother, Edward Lewis of McFarland; and a sister, Yvonne Carol (Lewis) Klein of Clementon, N.J. She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Edward; her parents; two sisters, Barbara Ann Lewis and Patricia Ann Lewis; and a brother, George Raymond Lewis Jr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARDS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton, at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, with Monsignor Douglas Dushack presiding. Burial will be in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, with military rites conducted. Visitation will be at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., on Tuesday, June 17, 2008, with a pass-in-review service at 6 p.m., by the American Legion Post No. 534, McFarland. Friends may also call at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. Marlenes family would prefer that instead of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity in her memory, HospiceCare Inc., or St. Bernards Vocation Program. The family acknowledges that there are many who were with Marlene during her trying times, Dr. David Hei, Dr. Tony Chang, Monsignor Pat Higgins, Monsignor Douglas Dushack, Monsignor Dan Ganshert, Adrienne Laravuso-St. Bernards Parish Nurse, Dr. Bill Rock, and all the patient and caring members of HospiceCare Inc.

Putting my sorrow into words have proven to be a difficult task. Please know that I feel blessed to have known Marlene for most of my life and a privilege to call her a friend. I have many fond memories of our early days . It was so nice to see her again after so many years when you visited New Jersey. May knowing that you are in the hearts and thoughts of many help you through this time of sorrow. Our prayers are with you and your family. We hope you all stay strong through this difficult time.
