Roman Theis

Theis, Roman M. "Romie" CROSS PLAINS Roman "Romie" M. Theis, age 85, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2008, at Meriter Hospital. He was born on Nov. 14, 1922, in Marxville, the son of Rose and Leonard Theis. He married Lucille Diederich on Feb. 6, 1947. He worked as a farmer, electrician, and a carpenter. Roman enjoyed going out to dinner, dancing, gardening, making birdhouses, and cracking hickory nuts. Roman is survived by his three children, David (Karen) Theis of Hillsboro, and their children, Laura and Melissa Theis, Marcia (Glenn) Wykoff of Dalton, Ga., and their children, Matthew and Brandon Wykoff, and Janice (Patrick) Doyle of Cross Plains, and their children, Madeline and Victor Doyle; very special friend, Evie Reinke and her 12 children and their families; sisters, Lorraine (Lawerence) Breunig, Jeanette (Melvin) Hollfelder; his brother, Virgil (Gladys) Theis; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie (Joe) Kessenich, Jerome Diederich, and Eileen (Mike) Meicher; and many special nieces and nephews. Roman was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille in 1981; son, Mark in 1974; and his parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes St., Cross Plains, on Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at 5 p.m. with Father Tom Kelley presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 3 p.m. until the time of the service. Roman and his family are especially grateful to his loving and caring caregiver, Baja and her husband, Gana who made it possible for him to stay at home.
