Joan Olson

Olson, Joan L. MADISON Joan L. Olson, age 90, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2008, at St. Marys Hospital, after a brief illness. She was born on May 19, 1918, in Edgerton, the daughter of Louis and Mary (Sommerfeldt) Koehn. Joan graduated from Stoughton High School and received a degree in nursing in Milwaukee in 1939. She was united in marriage to James C. Olson Jr. on July 3, 1943, at Bethel Lutheran Church. Joan worked for Dr. Carter, and later Drs. Hank, Healy, Olson and Roley, in Madison. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Madison, where she was president of Bethel Parish Shoppe for many years. She also volunteered with Red Cross and at Olbrich Botanical Gardens, and was a member of the Elks Auxiliary and the Eastside Businessmens Association. Joan is survived by her children, Jean K. (John S.) Looze, Jerry K. (Denise F.) Olson, and Jan M. (Jeff L.) Nelson, all of Madison; grandchildren, Ann-Marie (Mark) Olsen, Daniel J. Blood, Bradley (Jessica) Looze, Shayne Sickels (Aimee Ponce), Adam K. Olson, Jaime L. Nelson and Jaeger L. Nelson; and four great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Madeline, Sierra and Tyler. She was preceded in death by her husband, James in 1986; and her parents. Funeral services will be held at BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 312 Wisconsin Ave., Madison, on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Curt Everson presiding. Inurnment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park at a later date. A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., on Monday June 30, 2008.
