Phyllis Statz

Statz, Phyllis J. MADISON Phyllis J. Statz, age 72, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2008. She was born on July 21, 1935, in Portage, the daughter of Frederick and Manetta (Miller) Biech. Phyllis worked for Portage Hosiery for 32 years and then at Mattke Insurance Agency for seven years, retiring in 1997. She was a member of the Monona and Portage Senior Citizens, and a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church. Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Janene (Tracy) Toay of Madison; son, Joseph (Kelly) Statz of Bedford, Texas; granddaughter, Rachel Toay of Madison; grandson, Michael Statz of Bedford, Texas; sisters, Beverly (Wayne) Johnson and Judy (Gerald) Mielke, both of Portage; and brother, James (Ester) Biech of Portage. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; and her parents. A memorial service will be held at ST. STEPHENS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5700 Pheasant Hill Road, Monona, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2008, with the Rev. Jerry Folk presiding. A memorial gathering will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
