Brown, Harry W. "Hank" COTTAGE GROVE Harry W. "Hank" Brown, age 65, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2008, after a three year battle with cancer. He was born on Dec. 7, 1942, in Hinsdale, Ill., the son of Harry W. and Dorothy (Lueders) Brown Jr. Hank served in the U.S. Navy and in the Vietnam war. He married Carol Cutler on July 6, 1963, in Hinsdale, Ill. Hank worked for Madison Metro Bus Co. for 28 years, and owned and operated Shorewood Realty Co. for several years. His passion was trains since he was a child. Hank was a member of the South Central Wisconsin Division of the National Model Railroad Association, serving as president twice and on the board of directors for more than 20 years. He was also a member of North American Rail Car Owners Association and served on their board of directors for many years. For the past 17 years, Hank and his wife, Carol, owned Wilderness Tours, organizing railroad motor car tours throughout North America. Upon his retirement in 1997, Hank started Train Guyz, building model railroad layouts in peoples homes throughout the Midwest. He and Carol enjoyed traveling the world, throughout their 45 years of marriage. Hank is survived by his wife, Carol; son, Geoffrey (Lori) Brown of DeKalb, Ill; sister, Mary Beth Webster of LaGrange, Ill.; brother-in-law, John Tone of Des Moines, Iowa; two nieces and their families, Tracy (Barry) Hutchison of Alexandria, Va., and Catherine Tone of Des Moines, Iowa; stepsister, Julie Webster; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Susan Brown Tone; stepfather, John "Jack" Webster; maternal grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Augustus "Gus " Lueders; and stepbrother, John Dendy. A memorial service to celebrate Hanks life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2008. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Helping Hand, 9649 W. 55th St., Countryside, IL 60525 (Downs Syndrome charity) or to Jefferson Foundation, 925 Chestnut St., Suite 110, Philadelphia, PA 19107 (specify donation for Dr. Satos work on ocular melanoma cancer).
