Marks, Frances Pearl "Granny" MADISON Frances Pearl "Granny" Marks, age 96, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2008, at Oakwood East. She was born on Dec. 31, 1911, in McFarland, the daughter of Roy and Goldie (Bearbower) Obrecht. Frances graduated from Madison East High School and Madison Business College. She married Alfred T. Marks on May 28, 1938. He preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1986. Frances was employed at Jackson Clinic and Riteway School Bus Service for several years. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and was active in the church womens groups. Frances enjoyed quilting, crocheting, playing bingo and cards, especially euchre. She is survived by her children, Catherine Thies of St. Ann. Mo. and Robert (Rose) Marks of Madison; grandchildren, Michael (Christine) Bergen, Darrell (Susan) Bergen, Loretta (John) Panhorst, Todd (Sharon) Marks, and Linda (Bob Lee) Marks; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Aaron, Hannah, Nicole, and Michael Bergen Jr.; and step great-grandchild, Christine Phillips. Frances was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Florence Swenby; and son-in-law, LeRoy Bergen. Funeral services will be held at HOPE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3702 County Trunk Highway AB, McFarland, at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 16, 2008, with the Rev. Chris Lee-Thompson presiding. Burial will be at Hope Cottage Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 15, 2008, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. Memorials may be made to Hope Lutheran Church Music Fund. A special thank you to Meadowmere Assisted Living and Oakwood East for the care they gave Frances.
