Obituary

Bonura, Calogera "Char" MADISON Calogera "Char" (Oliveri) Bonura, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at Sylvan Crossing in Fitchburg. She was born on Feb. 15, 1923, in Salaparuta, Sicily, the daughter of Calogero and Rosaria (Navarra) Oliveri. Calogera was united in marriage to Julius Bonura (Poggioreale, Sicily) on April 14, 1947, and arrived in Madison in Jan. 16, 1948, from Sicily. Calogera was a member of the Bersagliere Womens Club and St. James Catholic Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Jeana (Ralph) Haak, Sara (Ron) Oliver, Rosemary (Dave) Schuller, Nick (Laura) Bonura and Carlo (Jill) Bonura; special aunt to Jack and Josie Fiorello, Paul and Sara Stillone, Duane and Gerry Asp, Fred and Rosalie Haring. and Nick Bonura; many nieces and nephews in Sicily, Italy and Argentina; Calogera is survived by her dear sister, Paola (Castenzio) Sansone; three brothers, Inocenzio (Nene), Antonino (Angelina) of Argentina, and Calogero (Antonetta) of Salaparuta; five grandchildren, Andy Schuller, Anthony Bonura, Nicole Bonura, Jake Bonura and Tyler Bonura; special Nana to Virgina, Tom, Meghan and Zachary Kersten, Sam, Rebecca, Graham, Max and Audrey Fiorello, and Frank, Yau Stillone, Joe, Lori, Paulie, Bella, Marcus and Nate Stillone; and many other relatives and close friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Julius; sister, Rosalia (Francesco) Cappello; her brothers-in-law, Francesco Cappello, Castenzio Sansone, John Bonura and Mike (Mary) Bonura; sisters-in-law, Mary (Mike) Bonura, Rosa Bonura, Maria Bonura and Rosa (Jim) Oliveri; and brother, Jim (Rosa) Oliveri. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1128 St. James Court, Madison, on Friday, May 23, 2008, at 11 a.m. with Monsignor Thomas Baxter officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HospiceCare Inc., or Care Wisconsin. The family expresses our gratitude to all the care providers at Sylvan Crossing and to the HospiceCare staff. Though Mom will be greatly missed we are all grateful for the time and love we were granted with her. She touched every one of our lives and will continue to do so through our loving memories of her.
