Obituary

Vorlop, Virginia R. MIDDLETON Virginia R. Vorlop, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at the HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. She was born on Aug. 31, 1931, in Genesee Depot, in Waukesha County, the daughter of Harvey J. and Anna Elizabeth (Rush) Williams. She was a member of the United States Army serving in Japan, Korea, and the U.S. during the Korean War. In the early 1960s, she began working at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, in the dietetics department, and later retired in Sept. 1991. She married Donald A. Vorlop on Feb. 5, 1965, in Dubuque, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 1969. She is survived by her younger brother, Fred (Donna) Williams of Hayward; a younger sister, Betty (Raphael) Ripp of Black Earth; two sisters-in-law, Edith Williams of Lake Mills and Lois Williams of Stoughton; 11 nieces and nephews: Mary, Patricia, James, Dennis, Ronald and Timothy Williams; Andy and Susan Williams; Jeff, Jon and Elizabeth Ripp; and many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews; and other family members including Dons daughter, Linda Vorlop Templin of Muskego. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a step-father, Walter D. Muetzenberg; and two older brothers, Harvey G. Williams and Earl J. Williams, and a younger brother, Clarence LeRoy Williams. Memorial services will be held at the GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Avenue, Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2008. Pastor Kenneth A. Smith of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Madison will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be held at 2 p.m. at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in the Town of Cottage Grove. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HospiceCare, Inc. or to the American Cancer Society.
