Harry Thorne

Thorne, Harry W. OREGON Harry W. Thorne, age 84, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2008. He was born on Feb. 29, 1924, in Boston, Mass., the son of Walter and Mary (Burke) Thorne. Harry served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed in Italy during World War II. He attended the University of Massachusetts, where he met his future wife and graduated from Duke University, with a degree in forestry. Harry was united in marriage to Phyllis Cushman on Aug, 12, 1950, in Glen Ellyn, Ill. He retired after 32 years of service from the Department of Natural Resources. Harry is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis; four children, Glenn (Dorothy) of Traer, Iowa, Gail (James) Rajski of Madison, Craig (Debbie) Thorne of Germantown and Holly (Jonathan) Cobb of West Bend; and eight grandchildren, Megan Thorne, Ryan Thorne, Gwen Rajski, Cliff Rajski, Tim Thorne, Paul Thorne, April Cobb and Steven Cobb; and a sister, Loretta Bailey of Tewkskbury, Mass. He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant daughter, Linda. Private family graveside services will be held. Burial will be in Prairie Mound Cemetery, Oregon.
