Jack Rogers

Rogers, Jack J. MADISON Jack J. Rogers, age 84, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2008, surrounded by his family. He was born on Feb. 17, 1924, the son of Clyde and Wilma (Ward) Rogers. For most of his life Jack was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors. Bowling and golfing were other pastimes he enjoyed, and he especially liked attending his grandsons many sporting events. Early in his life, Jack worked for Renk Seed Farms and Omar Bakery, he then worked at Madison Newspapers for 22 years, followed by Monona Schools for 11 years, from where he retired in 1988. Jack is survived by his loving wife, LaVonne (Gink) Rogers; son, Gary and his wife, Judy; daughter, Joette and her husband, Dave Heagney, and their son, Brett Heagney; and two of six brothers, Royce and Pat Rogers and their families. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Robert, Jimmy, Richard and Tom; and sister, Mary (Knox) Rogers, who passed away just hours before Jack on the same day. A memorial service will be held at MONONA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 606 Nichols Road, Monona, on Friday, May 30, 2008, at 11 a.m with Susan Burwell officiating. Memorial visitation will be on Friday, May 30, 2008, from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to HospiceCare or to Monona United Methodist Church. The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Searles and everyone at Kindred Hearts Senior Living in Cottage Grove for the kindness and wonderful care they provided for Jack.
