Obituary

Selbo, Margie I. STOUGHTON Margie I. Selbo left this earth and joined her Lord on Thursday, April 17, 2008. Marge was born on May 14, 1924, the daughter of Harry and Margaret (Putman) Sween of Holmen, Wis. After graduating from Holmen High School, Marge attend Luther College where she met Warren Selbo of LaCrosse. They married in Holmen in 1944. After World War II, they returned to Luther College, then to Brodhead and moved to Stoughton in 1959. Marge embraced the Norwegian heritage which Stoughton had to offer. Marge was an accomplished bridge player, homemaker and knitter. Marge knitted Norwegian sweaters for family and friends that are true works of art. Holidays were also times where Marge showed her skill in preparing many delicious Norwegian foods. Warren died in 1983. Marge married Joe Ralph in 1989. Together Marge and Joe continued to be very involved in the Stoughton community, and in 2002, received the Stoughton Community Appreciation award. Marge was a member of Stoughton Village Players, Christ Lutheran Church, Skaalen Home Board, Holmen Auxiliary Legion and was a supporter of the arts. Marge is survived by her husband, Joe; four sons, Luther (Tammy), John (Burnie Bridge), Dave (Jean Schnoor), and Paul (Sue); a brother, Kent (Mary) Sween of Onalaska; two step-daughters, Peggy Horne and Jane Ralph; six grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. A celebration of Marges life will be held at CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 700 Highway B, Stoughton on Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Scott Geister-Jones presiding. A visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Christ Lutheran Church would be appreciated. The family wishes to thank the staff of Unit 5 at Skaalen Home for the care extended to Marge. Marge was a God fearing, strong, intelligent woman and will be missed by all who knew her. I have fond memories of Marge and spending Syttende Mai in Stoughton when I was young. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.
